Scouting for All (module 7)

The module aims to help participants to develop a general understanding of inclusion topics and how to provide inclusive Scouting for all.

 

It gives an introduction and practical advice about how to make Scouts more inclusive.

  • Inclusion topics.
  • Example of a good inclusive Scout Programme.

First Response theory (module 10A) - blended approach - facilitated session

This online trainer-facilitated course follows e-learning to complete the blended learning approach to First Response theory (module 10A) for adult volunteers.  Participants must complete the e-learning available at https://hampshire-scouts.thinkific.com/courses/firstresponse before attending (on the completion screen, please select Gwent or "Other counties" from the bottom of the list, not Wales)

 

Completion of module 10A theory must be followed by completion of a module 10B practical assessment (approximately 30 minutes) to be fully valid.

First aid course - First Response

This one-day Scout-led training for adult volunteers covers all of modules 10A and 10B.

Air Rifle Instructor Course (YPST Diploma and Target Sprint Leader)

Venue: CRAI Scout Activity Park, Newbridge

Type: Other training


This course will provide you with all of the information you need to safely run Target Shooting as an Activity with your Young People through the Youth Proficiency Scheme (YPS).  It will also provide you with the British Shooting Target Sprint Leaders qualification allowing you to introduce your Young People to the fast and exciting sport of Target Sprint.

Running safe activities (module 17)

Enables adults to plan and run exciting, safe and developmental activities for the young people in their section – covering topics such as roles and responsibilities, activity rules, planning, risk assessment process, and what to do when things don’t go to plan, as well as how we communicate and keep things safe.

Artificial climbing, abseiling and high ropes training

4-5 December 2021

Venue: CRAI Activity Park (Maes-Y-Haf Lane, Above Homeleigh Estate, Newbridge, Gwent)

Type: Other training


The Course will deliver the skills needed to correctly and safely rig and run climbing, abseiling and high rope sessions at CRAI Activity Park, with many skills transferrable elsewhere. There will be NO assessment as part of the course, further experience will be required and can be obtained through experience sessions that will be run after the course.

1st Response - Life support (module 10A session 1)

Type: Area Training


This is part one of a three part course, and all three online sessions must be attended to complete module 10A, but you can mix and match session dates, including with other Areas/Counties.  Attendance on all 3 sessions is compliant to return to face to face Scouting, but a short practical assessment (module 10B) will be available soon and must be completed (or an external certificate obtained) by the end of January 2022.

Aim: This course aims to cover the knowledge and skills necessary to enable members of The Scouts and Girlguiding to provide basic first aid and ensure safe management of a first aid incident.

 

Objectives:  By the end of the training participants will have had the opportunity to be

     provided with simple first aid information which is relevant to their role.

     helped to build confidence and skills in coping with emergency and first aid situations.

     equipped with the knowledge needed to manage these emergencies.

This practical 2-day externally certified qualification is limited to 12 persons.  Cost is subsidised to £30 for adult volunteers within Gwent.

Jamboree on the Trail (JOTT)

Jamboree On The Trail is an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together. All Scouts, whatever their age and wherever they may be in the world, are invited to participate in whatever way they can.
 
In their own way, everyone will be hiking the same direction; towards a better future through Scouting.
