Volunteering Development

Adult learning

Training of adult volunteers is one of the primary roles of every Scout area or county. In Gwent, we have an enthusiastic and supportive team of trainers, advisers, facilitators and supporters.

We run an annual programme of courses, including leadership training, safeguarding, and ‘Nights Away’ – skills for camping and other residential experiences with young people. We also run occasional specialist ongoing training where there is demand. We’re also here to support your personal development through self-directed learning. Scouting training for managers is now provided at a country/regional level.

What learning do I need to do?

Scouts learning and training is changing in the last few months of 2024, but there will be a transition period for the next couple of years, and all completed learning will still count.

rifle activities for young people, helping to foster a new generation of responsible and enthusiastic target sports enthusiasts

Upon successful completion of these courses, you are qualified to run the activity.
