Welcome to ScubtreX 2022, Gwent’s premier activity to promote links between Cubs and Scouts, making that moving on just a little bit easier. 

ScubtreX is an activity hike with bases along the way to test your Scouting skills. Each year we present the winners with a trophy that can be kept for a year to celebrate their achievement. 

Event Overview

Date: 2nd July 2022

Location: Starts and finishes at Victoria Campsite Ebbw Vale (approx. 9am – 4pm) 

Drop off / pick up for young people: Ebbw Vale Parkway Train station NP23 8AP, it is a short walk to Victoria campsite from here.

Cost: £3.00 entrance fee per person 

Each team will be given a start time upon receiving booking forms.  Please note it is important that no cars / parents arrive at campsite due to space. Teams need to arrive 30 minutes before their start time for booking in and kit checks! Teams can range from 4-8 members, but try to not have more Scouts than Cubs 

Don’t have enough for a team? Mixed Groups are ok! 

All members must meet the required equipment, no kit, no play! 

Please note: dogs are not permitted on this exercise

Equipment List

Equipment Please note everyone should comply with the following, failure will result in team members not being able to take part on the day. 

Everyone should have:

Packed lunch Drink (in suitable container) 

Waterproof jacket Spare warm jumper 

Small amount of emergency rations (e.g a chocolate bar) 


Warm hat and gloves 

All kit must be carried in a suitable rucksack. 

Everyone should wear:

Clothing appropriate for a Spring hike 

Group scarf! Hiking / walking boots (ankle support is important) 

No wellies! No jeans or nylon socks! 

Waterproof & Windproof jacket with hood Hiking boots 

Teams should have (min 1 per team): 

Compass and map case 

Bivvy / survival bag 


First aid kit
